Larry 2019-01-24 03:38:22 | Hello All, I'm new here. I recently purchased an
Olympus TG-5 camera and housing. I need to get som
e lights, but I am on a low budget. I figure I ca
n add-on/upgrade down the road, but would like to
get something to get started. With so many options
out there it is a bit overwhelming. What would yo
u suggest for someone starting out (strobe vs vide
o)? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

You can start with a handheld torch. You will learn a lot about lighting by varying the position of the torch such as the distance to subject and angle. You will keep the advantage of having a small and light camera system that you can put into places that would be impossible if you attach strobes. In the future when you have more budget you can upgrade by adding one or 2 strobes or to a different camera with lenses. I use a handheld torch when I use my TG4 and avoid attaching my strobes to it!
