Miranda-Clare Iddon 2017-05-30 04:24:43 | Hey guys/gals!
I've been wanting to ge t into close focus/wide angle photography for a fe w months now. I love the images people are coming out with where a macro subject has the beautiful b lue water background with the sun. AH-mazing. I wondered if anyone could recommend a goo d lens for these types of shots for the olympus OM -D em5 mii? I can't seem to find too much info on mirrorless cameras and this technique. |
I have work experience with the Olympus 60mm lens. It worked brilliantly underwater. Focus hunting was constrained, and typically just occurred when changing focus from something close looking for trouble more remote away or when I moved the lens in past the base center separation while shooting overly close up. I was truly satisfied with the performance of this lens, and particularly the scope of depth of field that is feasible when contrasted with utilizing the kit lens with a diopter.
I am using the same camera Olympus E-M5 mk2 and same housing Olympus PT-EP13.
Using the 8mm fisheye lens, you be able to get the close focus/wide angle shot you want, unfortunately if you have not changed the lens port of the housing to a dome port, then you will get vignetting (though you can crop it out in post process). I have just purchased the lens myself for my next upcoming trip - I post up an image later date.
If you are shooting with the 12-50mm Olympus lens shooting through flatport, consider buying a wet lens with 67mm thread to attach to your lens - it is also the cheaper alternative than buying a 8mm lens and dome port for your housing.
Here is a link if you like to check out the dome port https://www.backscatter.com/AOI-DLP-01-Glass-Underwater-Dome-Port-Olympus-OM-D-Housings

Enough of this thread.

You seem to be a bit harsh and out of line Joao. For your own information, should do some reading on Wet lenses, no question they have better corner sharpness than a fisheye with a dome.
I would not ever think of replacing your friend David, he is one amazing person, met him on the Bilikiki in the Solomons early 90\'s
Still trying to figure out your shown hostility but all is fine with me. Have a good day.

Worst, nothing to show for yourself!
I got upset because I am fed up with YOUR kind of people, make statements like \'I know it all\', when they know absolutely nothing!
The BEST equipment is the one that works for you! From a simple mobile phone to an Hasselblad Camera! You can give advise, but NOT in the terms you used!
I am brutal, I know, but do NOT have age or status to put up with foolish people! I am so sorry!

For close focus WA, corner sharpness is important and it doesn\'t get any better than going to a Wet lens like the WWL-1
Such an irresponsibility! And arrogance!
