I think I would use the same lens as you (super-wide) although macro might be cool too. These are abundant here, and quite large- if you were able to get one right on the dome at minimum focus, it will fill the frame, plus you'd still get the sky. I would like to see one that looks like he is flying and on flat calm water from an inch away :-) with some clouds like yours it would be a nice scene.. they have great color and detail
